2017 has been a rollercoaster of emotions, with heartbreak one minute and then nothing but joy and happiness the next, I guess that’s just life isn’t it. This year has been a year of self-love, growing up and educating myself on issues of the world.
I don’t want to come across as a preacher by any means, but right now this planet is well and truly messed up and it worries me about the type of world my children and grandchildren are going to be living in. It’s 2017 and we still have homeless people living on the street in freezing temperatures, tons and tons of human waste is being dumped into our oceans every day and what are we doing to stop this? Nothing. 2018 has to be the year of change, change in the way we view each other as other human beings not as ‘male or female’ but just as other person trying to make a life for themselves as are we all. Change in how we are treating our planet, we only have the one we can’t keep going at the pace we are. Rant over let’s talk all about the good that has happened during 2017 and what I’m grateful for.
2017 has been an amazing year for my blog the last few months have been stressful, to say the least, but now my university work for 2017 has been done and dusted and its time to start thinking (but mostly organising) my work out for my second semester in 2018.
2017 was the year of my first blogging event, this was huge for me as it had meant that someone (other than my mum and grandma) had actually found my blog and liked it enough to want me to attend an event of theirs. This event also allowed me to find other bloggers and social influencers in Derby, seeing their work and taking inspiration from it has been really helpful recently.
How could I forget 2017 was the year I met my favourite little bean, Joe. My amazing boyfriend is not only the most patient and caring person I’ve ever met, he’s also incredibly supportive of what I do and never fails to make me smile even on my sad days. 2017 has been a wonderful year of friendships and love and I’m so excited to see what 2018 has in store for me.
Luckily 2017 hasn’t had too much bad just the average amount that I think everyone gets, I’ve had stress from university work, the pressure to be a consistent blogger and to be active on social media.
After I realised none of this was worth the over amount of stress I was putting myself through life became a lot easier. Throughout 2017 nothing stands out has really bad, yes some not so great things happened, my hamster and chicken died and that sucked but I got over them, not to sound heartless. For me, 2017 was the year of figuring what is worth getting upset and worked up over and what just really isn’t.
Besides the many times waking up after a night out with all my makeup still on (I know, I don’t do it often I’m sorry) and looking like a complete mess, I haven’t had many ugly moments during 2017. An unexpected breakup, I try to keep most things private on my blog but the more personal I get the more I feel I connect with readers. Without going too much into detail, back in the spring me and an ex-boyfriend split up after a few weeks of dating and it was quite unexpected and did end very well.
Honestly? I’m grateful for this ‘ugly’ moment in 2017 because without it who knows where I’d be, I’m a strong believer in everything happens for a reason and this was just one of life’s hurdles that I had to overcome and I did and I couldn’t be happier.
I’m not really a person to make new years resolutions, as I think if you want to make a change don’t start at the new year start now. Saying this I did have a few things I would like to start now and try to keep up the whole year, my big one being this blog I know 2017 wasn’t the best year for my blog there have been many changes, including website change, name and upload day.
2018 is going to be the year of regular uploads, starting now, new and creative content focusing on world issues and talking about things we really ought to be talking about. To keep my fashion element to my blog as fashion and beauty are a huge passion of mine I will still have some fashion post about trends while incorporating deeper posts that I hope you will all enjoy.
Happy new year I hope your start of 2018 has been not a grey as the sky, If you did enjoy this post please leave me a comment down below telling me what other posts you would like me to do and don’t forget to subscribe so you’ll never miss a post of mine.
