As you may already know if you follow me on Instagram (if not my Instagram is @itstashafenn so what are you waiting for?!) you’ll know that last week Joe and I went on a beach holiday to Rhodes, Greece for 8 nights. This was definitely a spur of the moment holiday, we didn’t plan on going on another holiday. The main reason behind it was considering we won’t have all this spare time next year once we’ve finished university, we wanted to make the most of it. Both me and Joe have worked so hard this year and keeping up 2 blogs as well as my university work has been tough, it just shows that hard work pays off with the both of us finishing our second year with high 2:1 grades.
I wanted to write this blog post more as a reminder that it’s okay to take time out for yourself, everyone deserves a break and to refuel and relax. For our holiday we booked with TUI who we had never used before and got a package holiday if you don’t know what a package holiday is, it’s basically where a company puts together your flights, hotel transfers and hotel costs into one price that usually ends up cheaper than doing them all individually. We chose the hotel Castello Di Rodi in Rhodes, Greece it is a relatively nice size, not too big or too small. The staff where very polite and helpful, breakfast was your typical continental breakfast with some hot food like eggs and bacon, and the evening food was also very nice, especially their Greek cuisine.
I think there has become this stigma around students/ young people taking time off and being called lazy or spoilt. I think if you have been to university you will know how hard it can be at times with multiple deadlines, while also having to learn how to be independent and live on your own as well as still figuring out who you are and what you want to do with your life. I personally believe that everyone no matter your age of job needs a break every now and then, it’s important to take care of yourself both mentally and physically.
If you take anything away from this blog then let it be that we should all have some to ourselves to be able to just relax and do nothing, I think we can all sometimes get caught up in the idea of always having to be busy and there is actually an art in just sitting and enjoying your own company.
